Now, IK Multimedia has announced eight new Sound Library releases for Sampletank, seven of which were created by very talented prog rock keyboardist and prolific sound and product designer Erik Norlander. IKM has worked closely with some legendary artists to capture examples of their instrument sounds and even in some instances their playing, including the likes of Terry Bozzio, Billy Cobham, Hugh Padgham, Alan Parsons, and the late, great Neil Peart. Adjacent releases like Sampletron and Syntronik (both now in their second versions) have expanded the core focus of Sampletank to offer, respectively, vintage sampling keyboard-sourced virtual instruments, and a wide collection of authentically captured classic synthesizer sounds, which can all be loaded into Sampletank 4 as well.

They’ve continued to improve and iterate on the Sampletank formula as time has passed, and now Sampletank 4 offers a massive collection of sounds as well as sophisticated tools to map and manipulate samples in creatively useful ways. They released the original Sampletank virtual instrument all the way back in 2001, and indeed helped to establish the market for such products in the plugin era.
